Burswood Gaming Lounge

📍 Perth, WA 📅 Reviewed March 2026 🏷️ Resort-Style Complex
4.5
★★★★☆ Overall Score

Perth's riverside entertainment precinct delivers a VIP gaming experience unlike anything on the west coast. With recently upgraded facilities, breathtaking Swan River panoramas, resort-style pool and spa access, and one of Western Australia's finest steakhouses, Burswood Gaming Lounge is a destination that rewards the journey.

Burswood Gaming Lounge

Perth's Riverside Entertainment Precinct

Burswood Gaming Lounge occupies a privileged position within the Crown Perth complex, set on the banks of the Swan River just minutes east of the city centre. The approach alone sets the tone — arriving along Great Eastern Highway, the resort campus unfolds across landscaped grounds with the river glinting behind the main tower. It's a setting that immediately distinguishes Burswood from the urban density that characterises east-coast competitors. Here, space is a luxury in itself, and the resort makes the most of it with wide promenades, open-air terraces, and sightlines that extend across the water to the Perth skyline.

The gaming lounge's recent upgrade has brought the interior up to a standard that matches the surroundings. Gone are the dated carpets and low ceilings of the previous fitout; in their place, a modern design scheme anchored by polished concrete, matte black fixtures, and floor-to-ceiling glass panels that frame the river views. Indigenous art installations are woven throughout the public areas — commissioned works by Western Australian First Nations artists that add genuine cultural depth rather than feeling like decorative afterthoughts. The integration of Crown Perth's broader resort infrastructure means VIP gaming members also enjoy access to the pool, spa, and fitness facilities, blurring the line between gaming venue and luxury resort.

The VIP Gaming Floor

The heart of Burswood Gaming Lounge is its upgraded VIP section, housing over 200 electronic gaming machines across a floor plan that prioritises comfort and flow. The layout is thoughtfully zoned: a high-energy area near the entrance features the latest multi-line and progressive jackpot machines, while deeper into the room, quieter alcoves with premium seating cater to members who prefer a more measured pace. Each zone benefits from the Swan River views through the glass walls — a feature that genuinely transforms the gaming experience compared to the windowless floors found at most competing venues.

A dedicated VIP concierge team operates around the clock, managing everything from drink service and meal reservations to theatre tickets and airport transfers. Crown Rewards membership integrates seamlessly with the lounge — points earned on the floor translate directly into dining credits, hotel stays, and event access across the broader Crown Perth precinct. The concierge desk also coordinates sunset sessions on the roof terrace bar during warmer months, an experience exclusive to VIP members that combines craft cocktails, Western Australian artisan cheeses, and uninterrupted views of the sun dropping behind the Darling Scarp. It's a touch that demonstrates how seriously the venue takes the full hospitality experience beyond the gaming floor.

Steakhouse Dining & WA Craft Beer

Burswood's flagship steakhouse has earned a reputation as one of Perth's premier meat-focused restaurants, and after our visit, that reputation feels well deserved. The menu centres on dry-aged Western Australian beef — Margaret River grass-fed and Kimberley-range options are standouts — cooked over ironbark charcoal in an open kitchen that doubles as theatrical entertainment. Sides lean towards generous rather than fussy, and the wine list leans heavily on Western Australian producers, with deep representation from Margaret River, Great Southern, and Swan District vineyards.

Beyond the steakhouse, four additional restaurants within the complex cover a range from quick-fire Asian noodle bars to a seafood-focused brasserie that makes excellent use of Fremantle's daily catch. What surprised us most, however, was the Western Australian craft beer selection available throughout the VIP lounge. A rotating tap wall features producers from Feral, Rocky Ridge, Eagle Bay, and Bevy, among others — a curated selection that speaks to local pride rather than defaulting to national brands. The roof terrace bar extends this philosophy into cocktails, with several menu items incorporating native botanicals like lemon myrtle, Davidson plum, and Geraldton wax.

Resort Lifestyle & Events Programme

What elevates Burswood Gaming Lounge beyond a standard gaming venue is its integration into the full Crown Perth resort ecosystem. VIP members gain complimentary access to the resort-style pool and spa complex — a heated infinity pool overlooking the river, a thermal suite with sauna and steam rooms, and a day spa offering treatments that use Australian native botanicals. For interstate visitors especially, the ability to combine a gaming session with genuine resort relaxation makes Burswood a compelling multi-day destination rather than a single-evening stop.

The theatre and events programme adds another dimension. Crown Perth's 2,300-seat theatre hosts a calendar of international touring shows, stand-up comedy, and live music that rivals anything programmed in Sydney or Melbourne. VIP gaming members receive priority booking and dedicated pre-show dining packages that coordinate seamlessly between the restaurants and the theatre. During our review visit, the venue was also preparing a series of outdoor summer events on the riverside lawns — a programme that, if executed to the standard of the rest of the operation, should further cement Burswood's position as Western Australia's premier entertainment destination.
